Matthew 1; Luke 1

Discipleship - The faith of Mary
Part of discipleship is being willing to accept what God says He is willing to do through us. We are often filled with self doubt and are unwilling to allow God to accomplish His purposes through us. Discipleship requires that we accept the responsibility to act on God's promises, despite our doubts in our abilities or our effectiveness. If the path seems impossible or we cannot see the way forward, we should not let that limit our willingness to accept His will and to act in faith and hope, waiting on His miracles or our increased understanding.

Interesting that Mary's words, "Be it unto me according to thy word" are echoed 33 years later by the Savior, "Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done." Perhaps a principal taught to Him first by His mother.
